Tee Alford has been spinning music for dancefloors for over 30 years. He began building an entertainment following even before arriving as a Temple University freshman in 1984. Quickly seeing the need to diversify and expand the soul music dance community in Philly, he injected his unique view of music into the local college social scene. Although this sound was not well received at first, the region would soon take notice of the enthusiasm at his well attended dance concerts both on and off campus. Major productions during the city's annual public events, like the Pan-Hellenic Greek Picnic in Fairmount Park and Penn Relays (1986-1992), provided a larger platform to showcase his event planning & DJ talents.
In 1988, Tee auditioned for Eric Coston to join the lineup on Philly's first "House music" urban radio mix show on WDAS-FM. That very same year, he began his first solo club residency on Sunday nights at Club Impulse with station mate, Kenny Ebo & friends. The rest is history. Those early successes would pave the way for many of today's revered house music DJs & event promoters in Philadelphia. Tee has built his own name from the late 80s thru today with DJ appearances at Philly's legendary clubs/events, NYC's Club Shelter, Cielo and tour dates in Europe & Canada. His noteworthy music/remix productions & distributed releases under the Funky People Records® label, Joint Ventures Group & the legendary Blaze Productions can still be heard in sets to this day.
Balancing the challenges of a technical career, multiple business endeavors, and family life, things have come full circle for the Funky People, LLC brand in recent years. In January 2015, the weekly mix show on WURD-AM 900 radio in Philadelphia, Funky People® RADIO LIVE, turned 2 years old. There's certainly no intentions to slow down with new studio recording projects on the way in 2015. Expect to hear the usual good music sounds on the show and see more creative lifestyle, networking and entertainment activities for the Funky People® nation!
