ELLEN FOLEY AND “MOJO MYLES” MANCUSO TO HEADLINE RETROFEST 21, PAYING TRIBUTE TO WOODSTOCK'S 40th ANNIVERSARY TO BENEFIT THE MAX'S KANSAS CITY FOUNDATION

( New York City , NY ) August, 2009— “Mojo Myles” Mancuso and Ellen Foley will be among the many musicians performing at "Retrofest 21" — a concert event featuring the music of the legendary Woodstock Music Festival — Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the Triad Theater, at 158 W 72nd St, from 6:15-11:30 pm.


Organized by Allan Spielman of Retrofest in partnership with the Max's Kansas City Project, Retrofest 21 celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the famous Woodstock Festival of 1969 with a musical lineup to sample the original Woodstock Festival concert experience. Retrofest is an ongoing grassroots effort that recreates famous festivals of the late 60s through early 70s. Included will be the music of Santana, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Jimi Hendrix, CSNY , CCR, The Who, Bert Sommer, and more. In addition to the headliners, special guests David Bennett Cohen (Country Joe and the Fish), Ira and Maxine Stone (Bert Sommer), Peter Sabatino (The Vagrants), David Amram, Helen Hooke (Deadly Nightshade), as well as upcoming artists Lin McEwan, Jahn Xavier, Joy Ryder, and Lily Hatchett, will be backed by a house band comprised of employees from A.S.C.A.P. and the local NYC music scene. All participants are donating their time.

Proceeds from Retrofest 21 will benefit the Max’s Kansas City Project, www.maxskansascity.org, a non-profit that embraces the philosophy of Mickey Ruskin, a true patron of the arts and the creator of Max's Kansas City , the legendary restaurant/bar/club, formerly located on Park Ave S. in New York City . The Max’s Kansas City Project was established in his memory in 2001, providing emergency funding (one time grants) and resources to financially distressed individuals in the arts, and has in development a teen empowerment through the arts program, Fearless Youth, an interactive online teen cyber cafe with a focus on substance abuse and suicide prevention, www.dropin2maxs.com.


About “Mojo" Myles Mancuso

Myles Mancuso is a gifted 13 year old performer / multi-instrumentalist. He has been fronting his own band on stages in and around the New York City and Hudson Valley area since he was 9 years old. Billed as " New York City 's Youngest Working Guitarist". His advanced musical abilities have allowed him to perform live on some of New York ’s top stages; BB Kings, The Cutting Room, Tera Blues, South St Seaport, The Iridium Jazz Club, Madison Square Garden (Knicks half time show) and others.

This year The Mojo Myles Band has been asked to perform as one of the featured acts at the Sarasota Blues Festival along with Little Feat & The Duke Robalard Band among others. This popular Blues Festival has presented other notable young guitarists early in their careers; Derek Trucks, Johnny Lang, Jeff Healey, Tab Benoit and others. In Myles’ relatively short musical career his talent has been recognized by many music and entertainment professionals, allowing him the opportunity to perform with a number of well known artists. He's appeared live as a special guest performer with Les Paul (Guitar Legend), Levon Helm (Legendary Drummer), Jimmy Vivino (Conan O’Brien Show), and many others. About Ellen Foley

Ellen Foley is an American singer and actress, who has appeared on Broadway and television, where she co-starred in the sitcom Night Court. In music, she has released three solo albums, and gained high public recognition singing the duet with Meat Loaf on the hit single " Paradise by the Dashboard Light" from the 1977 album Bat out of Hell. She can also be heard on The Clash album Sandinista!, released in 1980, in the song "Hitsville UK " and on the unreleased track "Blonde Rock 'n' Roll". Foley continues an active career in music and has appeared on Broadway in such shows as Me and My Girl and the revival of Hair and off-Broadway in Beehive. Her best known television acting role is the role of Billie Young on Night Court for one season (1984-85). She had parts in Miloš Forman's 1979 film adaptation of the stage musical Hair, as well as the films Cocktail, Fatal Attraction and Married to the Mob.

Tickets are available at the door for a minimum donation of $25. Two drink minimum.
All ages welcome, proof of 21 or older to drink.
