Here is a brand new interview we did with Antix/Fiord!
http://www.alterimagerecordings.com/Inteviews/Antix-Fiord_interview.html
Hi guys! How are you doing today?
Im all good. Up in Cairns the far north Queensland Australia. I played here on Friday and today I'm
doing a masterclass session with the young producers. I go back to NZ tomorrow morn. Hayd is
somewhere between Copenhagen and Berlin. He played in CPH on Saturday.
Can you give us some background on yourself, such as where you currently reside and how you got into electronic dance music?
We are based in Auckland, NZ but one of us spends the summers in Europe. This year Hayden was in Berlin.
Last year I lived in Paris. We take turns at going as one has to man the studio in NZ. We have a lot of
projects on the go both commercially for TV etc and with our dance music so always lots of studio work to be done.
What have you been up too this summer?
Ive been busy in the studio, doing some tracks, actually just finished one for you guys... its winter in NZ so its been pretty cold. Good
studio weather. Hayden has been touring all over the show. He’s also had a residency in Berlin, so that’s kept him busy.
What studio projects are you currently working on?
At the moment Ive got a techno tune on the go for Chameleon Records in Melbourne. Also a new project called the Drunken Apaches.
http://soundcloud.com/the-drunken-apaches it’s a Indy Dance project. We have already completed some pretty nice tunes and remixes.
Actually we just finished a remix for The Naked and Famous a NZ band which is killing it right now.
Where do you find inspiration for your music?
There is so much cool music out there to draw from. So that’s the main place we get our influences from. We make music that excites
us and gets the blood pumping, music that we’d want to hear on the dance-floor. I guess we are also influenced by our surroundings.
Nz is a beautiful place to live.
We hear you have a nice studio set up in NZ. Can you tell us about it? What is your favorite Hardware, VST Plug-in or tool to use to use when developing a track?
We use a lot of out board gear. We have a Moog Voyager, Roland Juno106, SH101, 808,909, & Nord Lead to name a few. I guess we
use the SH101 a lot, it has such an amazing bass, so deep and fat as hell. We also like all the wavs plug ins and also the Sound Toys
which has a insane distortion unit in it.
What do you guys like to do in your spare time?
I like to surf, Hayd is in to snowboarding, so getting into the outdoors is pretty important to us. NZ has such a rich nature, so I plan to get
amongst it as much as possible.
If you could take only 3 things with you to desert island, what would they be and why?
My partner so I don’t get lonely, my Surfboard for obvious reasons(I hope this island has surf) and a solar powered laptop; loaded with
all my favourite aps and movies!
Finally, tell us a bit about your remix of Mowree “Out of My Door” which we totally love!
Glad ya dig the tune. Was a pleasure to re-work. It came pretty easy for us because we had such a nice selection of samples to work
with. We wanted to make a deep powerful version of the tune, which I hope we accomplished. Look forward to continuing to work with
you guys! Its been awesome.
