We offer several whisky tours in Scotland of our own which include tours around many of Scotland's distilleries where you will be able to experience the whisky making process and sample the delights of the finished product "Uisge-Beatha" - the water of life. Most distilleries in Scotland provide a free sample of their product and have their own shops where a variety of purchases can be made.

A visit to a Scotch Whisky distillery is a truly unique experience. Whisky can only be called Scotch if it is made and matured in Scotland - so this is one tour you cannot take in any other part of the world.

No two distilleries are the same. Highland distilleries will naturally differ quite radically from those in more lowland locations. But it's not just the setting. Each distillery has it's own story, a distinctive way of doing things that has often evolved over centuries. This is what makes every Scotch Whisy taste different. From the source of the water to the shape of the still, your tour guide will help explain what makes the distillery's spirit unique - be it an old favourite or a new found pleasure.

Some distilleries cater specifically for visitors, with custom built visitor centres, museums, cafes or conference facilities. Others are more low key, but will be delighted to show you around. Highland Splendour

From Glasgow

INCLUDES: Six nights accommodation in rooms with private facilities; full Scottish breakfast; four full day excursions to the islands of Mull and Iona; Skye, John O'Groats and Inverewe Gardens; excursion to Cromarty and the Black Isle; Transportation by air-conditioned luxury touring coach; services of a tour host; service charges and taxes.

This fabulous seven day journey will introduce you to the very best of Scotland.

Day One

From Edinburgh and Glasgow we will make our way via lonely Rannoch Moor to the beauty of Glen Coe. There is a stop in the heartof the Glen before heading for Fort William. Drive through the Great Glen to Loch Ness, where we visit Urquhart Castle, for some monster-spotting. Our tour is based in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands for the next four nights.

The stay in Inverness is unescorted.

Day Two

A day of scenic beauty as we discover Wester Ross. Our first visit is to Corrieshalloch Gorge where we can see the dramatic Falls of Measach. Later we have a very special visit to lush Inverewe Gardens. From Inverewe we make our way to Gairloch and then along the banks of Loch Maree, said to be one of Scotland’s most scenic lakes. A drive through Glen Docherty will bring us to Achnaseen and
then Inverness.

Day Three

The emphasis is very much on nature today and we hope to see red deer, seals, puffins (until early August) and hairy Highland cows along the way. Our tour takes us to Golspie then through the lands of the Duke of Sutherland - when you’ll hear all about the notorious Highland Clearances. We will pass many stone-age sites before arriving in John O’Groats. We’ll make stops to enjoy the dramatic cliff scenery of the northen coastline before returning to Inverness.

Day Four

Today we enjoy a full day excursion to the beautiful island of Skye. We make a photo-stop at Eilean Donan Castle where you will marvel at the views of this most picturesque of castles. Soon we’ll be crossing “over the sea to Skye” and visiting the beautiful gardens of the Clan Donald Centre before enjoying the dramatic scenery of the famed Cuillin Mountains.

Day Five

From Inverness we tour through the Great Glen and enjoy views of its three picturesque lochs—Ness, Oich and Lochy. From Fort William we will head through Appin and Benderloch to Oban. The remainder of today is free for you to enjoy this picturesque town.

The stay in Oban is un-escorted.

Day Six

Today our tour of Mull takes us to Glen More and along the banks of Loch Scridain to Fionnphort, where we join the ferry for Iona. It was here in 563 that St Columba landed to found a monastery and bring Christianity to Scotland. Many early Scottish Kings are buried here, including Macbeth. The sense of peace and history that pervades the island will remain with us as we retrace our steps to Oban.

Day Seven

Enjoy some time in Oban before we travel to Kilchurn Castle, which stands guard at the head of Loch Awe. The pretty town of Inveraray that was built by the Duke of Argyll on the banks of Loch Fyne, Inveraray exudes 18th Century charm, as we will discover. A scenic drive from Loch Fyne brings us to the Argyll Forest Park and the dramatic “Rest and be Thankful” mountain pass before reaching the gentle shores of Loch Lomond once again. Soon we will arrive in Glasgow and then Edinburgh
