NITRO RETURNS TO SACRAMENTO RACEWAY
After 20 years Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars return to Sacramento Raceway.
Sacramento, CA, March 20, 2008: Nitro drag racing returns to Sacramento Raceway on April 12th with the 27th running of the Funny Car Fever event; featuring over 12 nitro nostalgia Funny Cars. Legendary names like the Bubble Up Pontiac, Plueger and Gyger Mustang, and Code Red Challenger are running in Sacramento for the first time; along with newcomer 19 year old Leah Pruett driving her Dickies Girl Mustang Funny Car! With Nitro Funny Cars coming from as far as the East Coast and as far north as Canada, Sacramento is going to play host to the best there is in Nitro Nostalgia Drag Racing. With the season already underway, this will be the last stop in California before these teams travel across the western states and Canada.
Other funny car entries include 22 supercharged alcohol funny cars from the California Independent Funny Car Association. This will provide spectators with a combined total of 34 funny cars. Additional classes in competition will include 220mph supercharged dragsters in Top Eliminator West, 7.0 Pro which host a wide variety of race cars all in one class that are nearly reaching speeds of 200mph, to finish up this lineup is the Top Sportsman and Four Pro-Gas Categories. Also featured for this race is the “Big Bucks ET”. These are Door Slamming Bracket Racecars that will be running for a $4,000 Cash Purse. With nearly 300 racecars in competition this year, it’s shaping up to be one of this years great events.
Saturday April 12th the “All New” Funny Car Fever Kicks off with the gates opening at 8am and qualifying set to begin at 9am. First round of Nitro Funny Car qualifying is set to begin at 12pm. Jet cars will blast off at 4pm and 7pm. General admission is $20 and pit admission is just $5 extra. Kids under 12 and parking are free.
